Medical Assistant

 

Medical Assistants are healthcare professionals that are most often found working in doctors’ offices, clinics (such as urgent care facilities or outpatient clinics) and sometimes in hospitals.  Medical Assistants perform tasks such as taking patients’ medical history, measuring and recording their vital signs, performing injections, drawing blood, and assisting physicians with other clinical or administrative tasks.

Here in the State of Michigan, employment of Medical Assistants is projected to grow 10.8% from 2014-2024.a

Pharmacy Technicians

Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in our healthcare system today.  These professionals assist pharmacists by performing tasks such as assisting customers, measuring amounts of medication for prescriptions, packaging and labeling prescriptions, organizing inventory, maintaining customer/patient information, and preparing and processing claims and records.  Once licensed, Pharmacy Technicians can be found working in pharmacies within drug stores, hospitals, general merchandise stores, or grocery stores.

Here in the State of Michigan, employment of Pharmacy Technicians is projected to grow 8.5% from 2014-2024.c

Massage Therapists

Massage Therapists treat their clients by manipulating their muscles and tissues through touch.  Massage Therapy has been known to help promote relaxation, relieve stress, ease pain, and promote general health and wellness benefits.  Massage Therapists (once licensed) can be found working in a variety of settings including spas, health clubs, doctors’ offices, hospitals, other healthcare facilities, and even hotels.

Medical Training Programs at Dorsey Schools
