Dear Students, Staff, Graduates, and Members of our Local Communities:

Today I am writing to you as we celebrate what is sure to be a pivotal day in the history of our school.  Dorsey has been a trusted name for quality career training here in Michigan since 1934.  As time has gone on, we have evolved by adding new programs and campus locations to better meet the needs of our local communities.  In addition, in 2021, Dorsey Schools became Dorsey College, a change that allowed us to better serve our students, local employers, and the communities in which we all live and work by offering associate degree programs.  Since then, we have introduced three new associate degree programs, focused in the areas of Nursing, Radiologic Technology, and Surgical Technology.  We have, and continue to believe, that as the needs of individual learners and our communities change, educational institutions have a responsibility to respond to help meet those needs.

I’m pleased to share that Dorsey has been acquired by Lindenwood Education System, the non-profit parent entity of Lindenwood University.  Lindenwood University, based in the greater St. Louis area, is a regionally accredited university with a 190-year history and more than 75,000 alumni.  Lindenwood University offers 70 undergraduate and 30 graduate degree programs to more than 7,000 students from all 50 states both on-ground at its impressive 500-acre campus, and online.

Perhaps even more noteworthy, Lindenwood University is strongly rooted in providing “student-centric” education, which is closely aligned with the goal of the career training programs Dorsey has and continues to offer.  Furthermore, this represents an innovative and forward-thinking approach to not only provide additional opportunities for higher education, but lifelong learning as well.

Dorsey College and Lindenwood University will continue to operate as separate educational institutions.  In addition, Dorsey students, staff, and partners should see no interruption in our daily operations.  We realize that you may have some questions, and therefore we have compiled the following Frequently Asked Questions.

As I write this, I’m humbled by the tens of thousands of successful Dorsey graduates who have changed their lives through the power of education over the past 89-years.  Furthermore, I am inspired and proud that Dorsey will continue to offer opportunities for lifelong learning for our students and employment in leading career fields.

Best regards,

John Barnes
