Medical Secretaries play a vital role in keeping healthcare practices running smoothly. They are responsible for duties such as scheduling/confirming patient appointments, maintaining electronic medical records, preparing reports and correspondence for the practice, and much more. Medical secretaries may work under a variety of job titles. Some of these may include medical office specialist, clinic office assistant, physician office specialist, and medical receptionist, to name a few.
5. Medical Assistant
Medical Assistants are most often found working in doctors’ offices and clinics. They perform duties such as recording a patient’s health history, measuring their vital signs, preparing them for procedures and to see the doctor, just to name a few. Depending upon the size of practice in which they work and the duties associated with their role, they may also have administrative responsibilities within a healthcare practice.
8. Licensed Practical Nurse
Licensed Practical Nurses provide basic medical care to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Physicians. LPNs may perform duties such as monitoring a patient’s health and vital signs, administering basic patient care such as inserting catheters, assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing and getting dressed, and reporting on the status and concerns of patients to RNs and Physicians. LPNs can be found working in a variety of settings, some of which may include long-term care facilities and home health care.

Massage Therapists use touch to manipulate the muscles and soft tissues of their clients. They do this in an effort to provide relief from pain, assist with the healing of injuries, improve circulation, increase relaxation and/or reduce stress, and assist in the general wellness and well-being of their clients. Massage Therapists can be found working in a variety of settings including spas, healthcare offices, on sports teams, or they may be self-employed.
11. Registered Nurse
Registered Nurses perform a variety of duties including delivering and coordinating patient care, educating individuals on various health conditions, and providing emotional support to patients and their families. This may also include administering medications, setting up plans for patient care, operating and monitoring medical equipment, and helping perform diagnostic tests. Registered Nurses can work in a variety of settings including hospitals, nursing homes, residential care facilities, and home health care, just to name a few.
