MICHIGAN-BASED DORSEY COLLEGE OFFERS MASSAGE THERAPY TRAINING AT DEARBORN, MI CAMPUS

Dorsey College Now Offers Massage Therapy Training at Dearborn, MI Campus

Dorsey College, a trusted name in career training and education here in Michigan for over 85 years, recently announced that they will be celebrating the addition of a new program at their Dearborn, MI campus.  Those who wish to train to pursue a career in Massage Therapy will now be able to do so at the Dorsey College Dearborn campus, which is located on Ford Road in Detroit.  Dorsey College will be hosting a Grand Opening celebration for its Massage Therapy Clinic and the addition of the training program Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.  The Massage Therapy Clinic provides an opportunity for students to hone the skills they have learned throughout the program, while also providing members of the public an opportunity to receive various massage services at a discounted price.  The ceremony will begin with remarks and a ribbon-cutting.  Guests will also be invited to take part in a tour of the school given by our student ambassadors and faculty.  Students from Dorsey College’s Massage Therapy program will also be offering complimentary chair massages.  Attendees at the event will include members of Dorsey’s executive team, local dignitaries and employers, students, and faculty.  Local officials and members of the Dorsey College staff scheduled to speak include:

  • Jackie Lovejoy, President of the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce

The event is being held during “Massage is for EveryBody Week”1 and Dorsey College’s Dearborn campus will be donating coupons for free massages to local frontline healthcare workers.  

John Barnes, President, and CEO for Dorsey College shared, “Licensed Massage Therapists play a necessary role within our healthcare system.  We rely on massage therapists to help relieve tension, stress and heal injuries and there is a need for these skilled professionals right here in Michigan.”  According to the Michigan Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives, employment of Massage Therapists in Michigan is projected to grow 12.1% from 2018 to 2028, which is faster than the average for all occupations.2  Barnes went on to note, “At Dorsey College, we’re committed to providing exceptional career training to help our students as they pursue their newly chosen career.”  

The Dearborn campus welcomed its first group of new Massage Therapy students late last year and those students are nearing the completion of their program.  The Dearborn campus offers specialized training programs geared towards preparing students for careers as Medical Assistants, Medical Administration and Billing professionals, Patient Care Technicians, Dental Assistants, and Electrical Technicians.  The Dorsey College Dearborn campus is conveniently located at 18660 Ford Road, Detroit, MI 48228.  The campus is located next to Planet Fitness and directly off the Southfield Freeway.
