If a steady paycheck and satisfying job are your goals, consider training to become a dental assistant (or D.A). The demand for preventative dental services is expected to grow, as dentists hire more assistants to complete routine tasks, thus allowing the dentist to see more patients in their practice and spend their time on more complex procedures. In fact, employment of dental assistants is expected to increase by 31 percent until 2020, and these professionals are expected to be among the fastest growing occupations, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics.

What does dental assistant training entail? During the 12-month program at Dorsey Schools, students will receive instruction on how to become a professional member of the dental health care team and provide aid to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. In addition, students at this reputable career school in Southern Michigan will study dental anatomy and physiology, terminology, preventative dentistry, two-handed and four-handed chair side assisting, radiography, sterilization, infection control, instrumentation, pharmacology and laboratory procedures. As a final component of the program, Dorsey students complete an externship that allows them to assimilate the knowledge they have acquired in the program into clinical practice.

So make it a resolution to actually fulfill your New Year’s resolution of furthering your education and enhancing your future by enrolling at Dorsey Schools… you’ll love your new skills.
