What to Expect In Our Cosmetology Classes

  • Our cosmetology classes combine classroom learning with hands on learning. Building a strong foundation throughout the curriculum that gives you the skills and knowledge needed.
  • Train in on-campus beauty clinics. Gain valuable exposure by applying your new skills on actual clients in a professional, supervised setting.
  • You will develop and refine your techniques in hair coloring, permanent waving, hair styling, and other core cosmetology services.
  • Our instructors will help you to explore your creativity to discover your unique style as an artist.

Career Preparation

  • Our program prepares you to confidently pursue entry-level positions in the beauty industry once you earn your license.
  • Students must finish 1,500 clock hours of training to meet state educational standards and qualify for the licensing exam.
  • The curriculum is designed to meet educational requirements for cosmetology licensure in the State of Michigan only. We have not made academic determinations regarding licensure requirements for any other state, district, or US territory.
  • Dorsey College will pay the cost of your state licensure exam one time, provided you meet our exam preparation requirements.
